If you would like more information on Coast Guard regulations please visit www.uscgboating.org/regulations/regulations.htm

THE VESSEL CHECKS WENT WELL, OF COURSE. IF YOU MISSED OUT, BUT WOULD STILL LIKE TO HAVE YOUR VESSEL CHECKED BY THE COAST GUARD CONTACT THE MARINA OFFICE AND WE CAN MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU :)

Cool links

Some of our tenants and staff have sites that cover a vast array of topics. The ones I know of (in no particular order) are: http://nicholas-scrolls.com/ Nick Stivers (ministry), http://www.quinnsboats.com/ Jim Quinn (boat brokerage and more), http://www.casecomics.com/ Kyle Case (comics & sailing adventures), http://www.dawnpalmersart.com/ Me. Dawn Palmer (my art), Michael Freeman http://www.footloosesailing.org/ (sailing for people with disabilities), Citizens For A Healthy Bay http://www.healthybay.org/ (local environmental/water concerns). I'm sure there are more, but I don't know them. Yet.

Do you have a good link to share? Have a favorite page, with humorous or educational content that your fellow boaters may want to read? If so, send it to me- or if you are less computer oriented, you can write it down and bring it up to the office

How to tell if your boat is suffering from S.A.D.

S.A.D. or Seasonal Affective Disorder can touch so many aspects of our Pacific Northwest experiences, but is your boat suffering from this condition? Read on and find out.

If your lines are so worn they wouldn't hold a bird if it landed on them, your boat may have S.A.D.
If your boat is still decorated for Christmas, or for that matter, Halloween, your boat may have S.A.D.
If you've tarped it off for so long you forgot the color, your boat is probably suffering the effects of S.A.D.
If your cabin is as damp as the outside hull, if the weeds growing off the bottom are taller than the mast, if the pirate on your flag has surrendered, your boat may be one of those with S.A.D.

Come check-out your boat and make sure it is still the happy place you spend your spare time in the warm weather. Don't let something that makes you HAPPY become S.A.D.

the Pacific Science Center has a butterfly house!

J-20 the 'Lucy's Legacy' exhibit will be there through Mar. 8th and is almost as cool as the butterflies. Almost, but not quite :)

Monkeyshines. . .

Did you know that for the past few years, in honor of Chinese New Year, an anonymous artist (and company) have hidden glass balls around Tacoma. This year 600 were hidden and some may still be out there waiting to be found. to find out more check out the link from Exit133 below. If you find anything (or have found anything) let me know!

Does anyone know this pirate?

We always suspected she dresses up like a pirate on her days off. I think we have enough pictures now to prove it! Hey Captain, do you need any crew?
