2nd Annual Boat Decorating Contest Announced for December 6th!!!

BEGINNING A HOLIDAY TRADITION ON THE THEA FOSS

The marinas located along the Thea Foss Waterway in Downtown Tacoma have announced the 2nd Annual Holiday Boat Decorating Contest to be held from 4:30pm to 6:30pm the evening of December 6th. Lighted boats will be seen from Foss Harbor Marina down to Dock St. Marina and Foss Landing.

Vessels will be judged based on their use of lights, their creativity, and their theme. An independent panel of judges will chose an overall Grand Prize Winner for the waterway and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places for marinas North of the 11th St. Bridge and also for Marinas South of the bridge. A variety of prizes will be awarded. Sponsors for the event include West Marine, the Harmon, Johnny’s Dock, Indochine, Commencement Bay Services, Foss Waterway Management and Foss Harbor.

“We are encouraging vessel participation in all of the marinas around the waterway,” said the Foss Harbor Marina General Manager, Tracy McKendry. “Not only will it be fun, but there will be great prizes. It always feels very festive to me to walk along the water at night and see all the holiday lights reflecting off of the water. “

The Glass Museum is looking at having a bon fire. Cutter's Point Coffee will be providing hot drinks. Winners will be announced after 6:30 pm at the Glass Museum. All decorated vessels will be eligible to win prizes from a drawing that will be held after the winners are announced.
Prizes include: Full Set of Foul Weather Gear, Free Month of Moorage, Dinner Certificates, Coffee Cards, and much more.

Visitors and Participants will be encouraged to bring canned foods for the Fish Food Banks and toy for the Toys for Tots campaign. Collection bins will be available at the site.


Caroling will be encouraged!!!
